Born in Turin in 1978, Igor Macchia knew from an early age that he wanted to become a chef. His passion for cooking was shaped by three defining inspirations: family, curiosity, and the joy of creating emotions through food.
His earliest and fondest culinary memories are linked to his father, who would cook at home on Saturday mornings. Standing beside him and helping prepare lunch became a treasured ritual and sparked Macchia’s first connection with the kitchen. Around the age of ten, while preparing a cheese risotto for family friends, he discovered another essential part of his vocation: the satisfaction of making people happy through a dish.
His desire to travel and discover new aromas, cultures, and flavors became another driving force behind his career. After attending hotel school, he broadened his experience through prestigious international establishments and extensive travels, particularly in Asia, developing a culinary perspective that combines openness to the world with a strong connection to Italian ingredients and traditions.
Macchia joined La Credenza in San Maurizio Canavese, near Turin, beginning a long-standing partnership with Chef Giovanni Grasso. The restaurant has held one Michelin star since 2006, establishing itself as a reference point for contemporary Piedmontese fine dining.
A curious and internationally minded chef, Igor Macchia creates a cuisine where Piedmontese roots meet influences gathered through travel and cultural discovery. His approach focuses on natural ingredients, precise techniques, and clean presentations, always guided by the same passion he discovered as a child: creating memorable experiences and bringing happiness to people through food.
